You're invited: 2020 National Engineers Week;
Presentation: "N/A"
Date: February 20, 2020 (On Today's date in 1732 President George Washington was born. While the nation celebrates President's Day commemorating our founding and sustaining fathers; the Engineering community celebrates National Engineer's Week to acknowledge the contributions to society that engineers make. Started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Engineer's Week is tied to the week in February which encompasses George Washington's actual birthday. This is in recognition of Washington being considered by many as the nation's first engineer, notably for his survey work. With this in mind, it seems appropriate, that on this, the birthday of the nation's first engineer, we take a moment to celebrate all that we do in advancing the profession of Structural Engineering by ensuring the safety of the built environment. The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California wishes to thank our members for their individual and collective impact on the communities within which they work and live. )
